Fave pics of George

These were taken over the last few years. After the pics, you'll find a wonderful tribute to our dear, departed kitty.

I came downstairs one day to find George had discovered a way onto the entertainment unit. This is one of only a several shots I took of him ruling the roost *g*.


And here he is in July 2004, exploring my new Ikea desk. He heartily approved!


We have a small window between the main area of the basement and the laundry room (long story) - as you can see here, George was a big fan of it. He'd jump onto the sill either from the back of the couch or via the washing machine - and he never fell in!



He frequented this spot in the garden during the final months of his life - the Creeping Jenny helped him stay nice and cool, while the Carydillis sheltered him from prying eyes.



Ah yes, ever resourceful, was George. If we wouldn't oblige him by putting food on the floor, he'd find it himself. Chances are the food in that particular bowl was actually for his diabetic brother (whose head you can just see at the bottom of the photo). Not that George cared - food was food!


My friend Hugh has written a poem about George - a lovely tribute I want to share:

George
The Cat, A god in Ancient Egypt
Deigns to share our homes
And if we're lucky to share our lives
But quite unlike the servile dog
The Cat alone decides which rules to follow
When to be playful
When to stalk off
Radiating offended dignity
The original Stoic
The Cat may unbend enough
To purr
To give us pleasure in his pleasure
But as befits a God
All else is regal silence.
